a garden of a thousand years

an immersive and interactive artwork created by artists anna mcmahon and annie mckinnon. working with the parramatta community, the artists created over 1000 hanging planters out of recycled plastics housing a range of edible and lifestyle plants. an interactive sound trail was created through the hanging garden featuring interviews with local school children involved in the project. commissioned by the city of parramatta council and supported through the NSW environment protection authority.

pass it on

a collection of three interactive objects (like the one pictured to the right) with dials and buttons. each object can speak to one another from up to 10km away. made from marine plywood and vandal-proof components. pass it on was commissioned by the think+do tank foundation in an effort to help people with no common language connect anonymously with music, an international language.

a national touring exhibition. a survey show of 40 years of new media art in australia. the exhibition design was commissioned by dLux media arts. concept by annie mckinnon, about turn. the exhibition featured 12 video works by renowned australian new media artists, as well as video support material. the design consisted of 12 plinths that coupled with the video works. the public could interact with each video work by picking up the key (pictured right) that was placed on top of each plinth. each side of the key would either play the video work or its video support material.

a collaboration with bruce ramus and uts animation. an interactive animation wall. the public could pick up puppets and mundane objects on display at the central park building, sydney. each puppet or object would animate and move characters and features on the 15m by 3m LED display in central park (pictured right). all software and interactive elements designed by annie mckinnon, about turn.

warrumbungles visitors centre

the warrumbungles visitors centre has undergone a complete rebuild and redesign since the devastating wambelong bushfires in 2013. about turn has created eight interactive display elements inside the new centre. commissioned by site specific pty ltd and NSW office of environment and heritage.
